Hand of Africa Foundation  Website

Hands of Africa Foundation is a non governmental organization based in the Netherlands.  People who established HAF care about African men, women, and children who are in desperate social and economic need.  The Foundation is a result of what many of us listen on the radio, see on television, and read in newspapers and magazines about the living conditions of the poor people with disability on the African continent.

But worse still is the impact of wars and the HIV/AIDS epidemic which has created, in turn, an epidemic of orphans and widows. Governments of Africa are trying hard to address this problem but with very minimal resources.  We all believe in the need for a stronger Africa, that can someday address all of its people’s needs, but until that day arrives, Africa needs our help.  HAF works in collaboration with organizations and people in East Africa, to help in areas where the government cannot.

The HAF website helps you navigate around the collective action of civic organizations in Africa. The activities of these organizations   include economic and cultural associations, religious and professional bodies – all actors that play a role in being a voice for the public good.

The big numbers of albinos and disabled have no one to care for even their most basic needs, which are food, shelter, clothes, medication and education. In Tanzania is estimated that there about 750,000 albinos, Tanzania Albinos Society currently managed to register 8,000 albinos. But the actual number is yet to be confirmed finish the registration of all albinos in the country.

This problem has been challenging to the organizations trying to help because most of the albino’s blood relatives or extended families do not have enough income to support them, and many are facing rejection, isolations’. For example in school albinos find difficult to mingle with others just because these non-albinos are not friendly or welcome them. Finding a life partner’s has been difficulty. But our project in Tanzania in Kilimanjaro, Arusha, Tanga, and Cost region proven that, albinos when they give a chance they can do better. The prove come from our “Education and Life Skill for Albinos in Tanzania” where albinos were following a mechanics course, tailoring, carpentry, and mansions. We have a student in Moshi University and in teaching college in Moshi. These prove the ability of these forgotten community that “THEY CAN” if they given a chances. We have seen that most African governments do not have enough funds to cater to this special group of vulnerable disabled. Hands of Africa Foundation believe it is unwise to leave this generation behind.

Apart from illiteracy, deep poverty, killings, and rejection skin cancer is another big problem for albinos in Africa/Tanzania. Many suffered and die with skin cancer. Those are the issue to needs to be tacked for the albino’s life protections

There are many homeless children who need access to education, but they do not have an idea of where to start, who to see for help, who will listen to their cry. These children therefore need someone to guide and support them so that they can build their future.
